Christianity
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

Who is Jesus Christ?

For hundreds of years people have been answering that question.
Many think He is just a myth and that He never really walked on earth. Others say he was a good man, a great teacher, or a prophet.
Some have called him a demon possessed man or something even worse.

Napoleon Bonaparte said, "I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ was no mere man.
Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison.
Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires.
But on what did we rest the creation of our genius?
Upon force. Jesus Christ founded His empire on love;
and at this very hour millions of men would die for Him."

When H. G. Wells was asked what person had left the most permanent impression on history, he replied that judging a person's greatness by historical standards, "By this test Jesus stands first."

Jesus Himself said, "I and the Father are one." Also, "If you have seen Me you have seen the Father."

He said He was one with God, the Father. He also said, "I am the way the truth and the life, no man may come to the Father but by ME."

He repeatedly forgave sins - something only God can do. C.S. Lewis said, "I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him, 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the kind of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg - or else He would be the Devil of Hell.

You must make your choice. Either this man was and is the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse.

You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God.

But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that option open to us. He did not intend to."
