I am Somebody
When you feel dejected, when you suffer
from low self esteem, it is good to remember that "God does not
make junk; you are precious because you are God's child, made in the
image of him." The following poem summarizes this sentiment very
well. Read and meditate on it.
I may be young;
I may be old,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's Child.
I may be educated;
I may be unlettered,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's Child.
I may be black;
I may be white,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's Child.
I may be rich;
I may be poor,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's Child.
I may be fat;
I may be thin,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's Child.
I may be married;
I may be divorced,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's Child.
I may be successful;
I may be a failure,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's Child.
I may be a sinner;
I may be a saint,
But I am somebody,
For Jesus is my Savior.
I am God's Child!

The following prayer attributed to Robert
A. Schuller, is great to help you rise from those occasional low moments:
"O Lord, give me the self-esteem to believe in myself and a vision to see where you want this child to be. Then give me the faith to carry it through and the wisdom to know I did."
Positive prayer helps build self-esteem. When you look in a mirror, what do you see? Do you see a child of God, a person with beautiful possibilities, with a future, with hope?
Look beyond your face and see the face of God. You are made in the image
of God. You are important because you are the child of God. Do not ever
forget that!
