Christmas Prayer

Help us come to this festive season seeking Him, as did the shepherds of old, that we may go home a new way - new men, new creatures in Christ.

O Lord, we stand before thee as one from whom no secrets are hid.

May thy beauty transform our ugliness.
May thy love drive out our hate.
May thy goodness penetrate our evil.
May thy mercy forgive our unworthiness.
May thy hope calm our fears.
May thy humility shame our arrogance.
May thy joy invade our sorrow.

O God, do thou mend the threadbare garment of our spirits that the star which first pointed the way may be the light that shall lead us out of darkness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
